Fired-heater packages

Delham is the manufacturer and supplier for this project-configured equipment. Final capacity, design conditions and configuration are established from verified process data, applicable codes and the agreed supply boundary.

Fired-heater packages

Typical engineering scope

  • Design-basis and supply-boundary definition
  • Process and major-equipment definition
  • Mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation coordination
  • Code and material review
  • Fabrication, testing and document review
  • Installation and commissioning support within contract scope

ENGINEERING DELIVERY FRAMEWORK

From a defined duty to an operable handover

Each package is treated as an integrated system—not a collection of isolated equipment. Process, mechanical and control decisions remain connected through traceable, reviewable deliverables.

Design basis & simulation

Freeze the design basis, operating cases, feed composition, normal and turndown capacity, ambient conditions and battery limits before detailed engineering. Mass-and-energy balances, equipment sizing and hydraulics are developed from verified inputs.

Process safety & operability

Review PFDs and P&IDs; support HAZID and HAZOP; define cause-and-effect, ESD and blowdown requirements, maintainability access and control philosophy to reduce commissioning and operating risk.

Multidiscipline engineering control

Coordinate process, mechanical, piping, structural, electrical and instrumentation deliverables through a document register, interface control, comment resolution and disciplined change tracking through final and as-built issue.

Technical procurement & fabrication

Prepare datasheets and material requisitions, evaluate bids, review vendor documents, define ITP hold and witness points, control materials, inspect fabrication and track NCRs to closure.

Commissioning readiness

Define mechanical completion, pre-commissioning check sheets, test packs, cleaning and leak testing, loop and logic verification, start-up support and performance testing.

Lifecycle handover

Compile the manufacturing data record, operating and maintenance manuals, recommended spares, lessons learned and a traceable handover dossier for the operator.

The figures are published capabilities for one API-style direct-fired heater family. They are market references—not universal standard limits, Delham ratings, or project guarantees.

Published values apply only to the cited equipment family and stated scope; they are not universal code limits or a Delham rating/guarantee.
ParameterPublished valueReference basisApplicability / limit
Single-heater absorbed duty1 to >100 MMBtu/h (about 0.29 to >29.3 MW)Published range for one direct-fired heater product family. The upper end depends on configuration, fuel, process duty and site conditions; do not extrapolate to other heater types.
Net thermal efficiency85% standard; capability up to 90%Published standard and optional performance for the same product family.Verify the efficiency definition, fuel, excess oxygen, process outlet conditions and test boundary before comparison or guarantee.
Application of API 560General refinery fired-heater scope only, when selectedThe linked API 560 reference is limited to its stated general refinery-heater scope. An API-style product description is not proof of certification or blanket applicability to reformer, pyrolysis or other furnace designs.
